Uncommon Journeys

Meet amazing neurodivergent role models

Meet Ollie
6pm Tuesday 22nd October

Indie Games designer and Uncommon Games Master, lover of Anime and all things Japanese!

Meet amazing role models

In our Uncommon Journeys series we meet neurodivergent young adults who have tuned into their passions and turned challenges into strengths, each finding their own unique paths.

Join us fortnightly on Tuesdays, meet amazing role models and be inspired by scientists, artists, storytellers and games designers each of whom have found careers they love. They’ll share their stories, dive into their passions and pass on their favourite life hacks!

Talks are designed for neurodivergent tweens and teens and parents are welcome to watch along.

October 22nd: Meet Ollie!

🧔🏼 Join Ollie on Tuesday, October 22nd, to hear more about his journey in gaming and what’s next in his adventure! "Hi, I'm Ollie and I’ve been making games since primary school!

I love video games, and when I'm not hanging out with you guys at Uncommon, I’m making games! I’m currently working on a goblin game with a team (details TBD lol). Growing up in South-west London, I was always into computers, maths, and philosophy. My academic path wasn’t easy—I failed my A-levels twice and barely passed a BTEC—but I didn’t give up. I went on to study software engineering at university and completed a master’s in creative technologies (games design). Now, I’m living my dream of working in the gaming industry."

"Having ADHD and aphantasia means my brain works a bit differently, and I love sharing my experiences." My neurodivergent traits, ADHD and aphantasia, have shaped how I experience the world. ADHD made school challenging, and with aphantasia, I don’t see mental images like most people do.

But gaming and online friendships helped me overcome feelings of isolation. I’ve made lifelong friends from all over the world, and I’ve even had the chance to visit some of them! Soon, I’ll be moving to Japan for a solo adventure, and I can’t wait to share all the exciting stories with you.

Join Ollie for his Role Model talk on Tuesday, October 22nd, to hear more about his journey in gaming and what’s next in his adventure!
